Wow, I seriously fail at keeping a blog. But, it's winter break for me now, so I'll probably be better at it.
So, I've been kind of baffled lately on why of a sudden a lot of pop artists in Asia are hopping in their time machines and giving us styles from the 60's and 70's. We'll start with the biggest ones in my world:
Morning Musume: With both a cover single and a cover album, they are a lot more obvious in their blast from the past. I never heard these songs before Morning Musume did them, except for the exception of the Pink Lady songs Nagisa no Sinbad, Pepper Keibu, and UFO. Overall I like the album, though, I'm really confused by why the Pepper Keibu in the album has the intro playing at the end. It sounds like someone just slapped it on because they thought that the album version needed to be different from the single. I wish I heard the originals, but I still feel like it's like a karaoke studio album for Morning Musume... it wasn't like Pepper Keibu where they added their own flair of it with the dance break. Here are some of my favorite songs:
Nagisa no Sinbad: <3 the "Sexy. Anata wa Sexy" and the low notes. Oh and the harmony. There hasn't been enough of that in Morning Musume lately.
Koi no Dial 6700: The chorus solos sound amazing... especially I think it's Eri's one in the first part. Though, Koharu's solo sounds painful for her.
Pepper Keibu: I'm including this one because prior to writing this. Though, this version has some of them standing on this platform for like solo parts? I don't know... it looks kind of cheaply thrown together. But I still <3 the song. Well, except that Reina gets the only solos. I was hoping for an Ai and Risa lead for this song, but the line distribution here is much better than Resonant Blue.
Overall rating of the album: B It was fun, but not the best. Still wish that Musume would have added their own flavor to it. Whatever that is since they've been doing so many different styles since Aruiteru.
This is getting split into more parts because I'm lazy >.<
How did this turn into a review post?!
